Planter's Paper
Planters Landscape Paper is a low cost substitute for landscape fabric, and biodegradable. It is a recycled fiber weed barrier that is 8 mil, porous black, with flexibility to hug the soil and produce strength during installation. When used under organic mulch, this product will keep weeds from growing and will allow the mulch to solidify before it degrades and disappears.
Directions: It's easy to use! Weed wack the area you with to replant. Roll out the Planters Landscape Paper, overlapping the edges 3". Keep in place with stakes were necessary. With a knife or scissors, cut around rocks, trees, shrubs and to any size and shape necessary. Cut slits plantings and plant right through the paper, or gently work existing small plants up through the slits. Broadcast mulch 3" deep and irrigate as normal. This is a great way to cut costs on chemicals, time and money.
Rose Cones
Rose Cones - Pyramid Shaped - These corrugated, waxed -coated cardboard rose cones are an excellent way to protect your roses or other delicate small shrubbery from damage due to severe winter snow and ice.
Slitted Row Cover
Slitted Clear Row Cover .8mil can be applied over wire hoops, thus the clear plastic cover can raise daytime air temperatures inside the tunnel 10-30° F and will offer 1-4° F of frost protection at night. The precut slits also offer ventilation on very hot days. Use black plastic in tandem with slitted row covers to maximize weed suppression and help retain heat in the soil.
SRM-Red Mulch
SRM-Red Mulch was developed at Clemson University using the premise that if certain wavelengths of sunlight could be reflected back up to the plant, yields could be improved. University research proved the hypothesis true when this new product produced a 12-20% increase in tomato yields compared to plants grown with black plastic mulch.
In our 1997 trials, we were shocked at the amount of weed growth under the red plastic. The mulch showed virtually no weed suppression and yields were correspondingly low. The product has been modified to better suppress weeds. Consider using SRM mulch over another mulch such as straw, sawdust or even black plastic. The other mulch may control weeds while the red may increase your yields. At this point we consider it best to view this product as experimental and use it accordingly. One mil HDPE embossed plastic film.
Wire Staples
Wire Ground Staples are sturdy, 10 gauge U-shaped wire staples are used to secure agricultural plastics and Reemay to the ground. A strong wind can wreak havoc on newly laid row covers. Staples spaced every three to six feet can help. Each staple is 6 inches long and 1 inch wide. Staples will rust but are heavy gauge metal and will last for many years.
Wall-O-Water
Wall-o-Water is a self-standing, easy-to-use miniature greenhouse that will enable northern gardeners to start their heat-loving crops up to 2 months earlier than normal without fear of freezing. Water-filled tubes store and release up to 900,000 calories of heat daily to protect plants to 16° F. With care, these sturdy cylinders are reusable for 7 to 10 seasons. Leaks can be fixed with the easy to use repair kit.
